Britons taking their cars on holiday to Continental Europe this summer are being warned to check their motor insurance policy terms and conditions before setting off – or risk travelling without sufficient cover. Research conducted by moneysupermarket.com indicates that many British motorists don’t know whether their existing car insurance will cover them on the continent or not.

And with the economic backdrop and the inconvenience of airport travel prompting more Britons to take the ferry and drive to their holiday destinations, concerns are growing about the thousands of people who may be driving without the right level of cover in place.
